I wish I had ESPN right now so I could be watching the Chiefs vs. Raiders game. I have to ‘watch’ it on espn.com. Wish less than 2 minutes, the Raiders have the ball on the Chiefs 10…

The page updated and the Chiefs got the ball back. Chiefs win!

On a related note, being out here in Oregon has left me with plenty of options when it comes to sports teams to root for, just none of them local. I’ve had some time since moving here to think about which teams I plan on rooting for and when I get a little bit more time will share my list of teams. We’re off to get some ice cream!

We have no work tomorrow, so what do we do? Pick Libby up at the train station in Lee’s Summit at 12:00, drop her off and get back to our place by 1:00. Then, just as we are parking, meet a guy in need of some help. He has a flat and we happen to have just the tool he needs. After an hour of trying, we couldn’t get the lock off, but we tried. Met some friends, though - Franklin and his friend and another guy that empties the trash cans on the Plaza. What a night!

I had the opportunity to go to the Royals game tonight against the Indians. For the second straight night, the Royals allowed a grand slam and for the 13th straight game, they lost. We had really good seats and it was a pretty fun game.

I plan on getting up early and heading over to the 4040 Main Blood Center and donating some blood. I know I shouldn’t be motivated by the goodies, but I am.

We are back from all the action and it was so much fun. We got out to Clinton Lake around 7:00 pm and walked around the grounds scoping out the sights for about an hour. We then settled in to Neko Case and she was pretty good. I hadn’t heard anything of hers before, and enjoyed her set. Wilco then came on around 10:30. I can’t remember their entire setlist, but they played a good mix of old Wilco, new Wilco and even some Woody Guthrie stuff for about 90 minutes. I took some photos of the whole experience.

On a side note, while looking to see if anyone put up a torrent of last night’s Wilco set, I found eugenefreaks.com.

I went with my dad (read his recap) and Scott (Sammy, Scooby Doo, etc.) to the Royals vs. Dodgers game tonight and had a blast. I never thought the day would come when I had to cheer against the Dodgers (my childhood team and still my favorite NL team), but at least for a few more months while I am still a resident of Kansas City, I have to cheer for the home team.

The Royals played great tonight. They scored six runs in the sixth inning and nine runs total. We got free donuts, but the best part was our seats. They were just about the perfect seats. We sat in the club level on the first base side and could see everything perfectly. It was a fun night at ‘The K’. I took my camera and put the photos up on flickr. Unfortunately, it is a bit tough to make out some of the shots of the scoreboard, but the night’s attendance was 16,182 and after the game they had a great animation of a broom sweeping up the LA logo with the Yankees logo already in the trash (since we swept them just a few weeks ago).

I just about let this slip by. The Royals SWEPT the Yankees in last week’s three-game series. I had a few friends at some of the games and they said the Yankee fans were giving Royal fans a hard time because ‘at least [the Yankees] have won more than 15 games.’ Yeah, well you just lost three in a row to a team that has only won 15 games. Royals try for five in a row today against Texas. Buddy Bell is unbeatable!

Rachel and I rented Mean Girls tonight and let me be the first to say, that Tina Fey is so funny. It really was a great movie. Rent it if you haven’t seen it yet or watch it again if you have. It had a lot of SNL people in the cast, including Tim Meadows which was maybe my favorite in the movie (next to, of course, Tina Fey).

In addition to the fun Rachel has already shared, I went to the Royals game again today thanks to tickets from my cousin Aaron (AJ from some comments). The seats were really good, about 20 rows back, right behind first base. We sat in the sun and I got a decent burn, but not too bad since I wore long sleeves. I would have taken pictures, but someone still has my memory stick (and someone else has my batteries). Anyway, the Royals destroyed the Cardinals 9-2. Even though they only won one of the three games, they were clearly the better team since they scored five more runs over the series. No foul ball this time, but the seats were great and I had fun. Thanks for the tickets Aaron.

Finally, Scott asked me to be a groomsman for his wedding to my sister. Like my sister, who said yes when he asked her to join him at the wedding, I also said yes. I was quite surprised and very happy to be a part of their wedding. Despite the many things I have said about Scott (both on this blog and in person), I really like him and can’t wait to actually be getting a good brother-in-law (only kidding Seth, Adam and Aaron). I was expecting to be the usher that gets to seat the really important guests, but this will be even better!
