Work Humor

rmx

I was messing around with my corporate email settings tonight and realized something that only a couple people will get. When I set up my email account I named it Right Media (which makes sense since that was the name of the company) and Entourage added the type of account to come up with a label that was a little ahead of its time.

Greetings from Burbank

On Thursday it became official, I now work for Yahoo! To kick off the old job with the new company, I’m spending some time in Burbank for meetings. Rather than go home for the weekend I decided to stick around and have some fun. Today I went to Disneyland and it was outrageous. I went with Brad, Pat and his family. We didn’t have to wait in a line over 30 minutes. We knocked out all the good rides at Disneyland by early afternoon then went over to California Adventures. I hadn’t been there before and was fairly impressed. I like Disneyland better, but California Adventures had some pretty good rides. My favorite was definitely California Screamin’ - we rode it three times.

I’ve got a few other plans for things to do before heading home. Tomorrow I’m heading south to visit my family in Orange County. I think I’ll try and have dinner with a few friends that have moved here in the last few years. And, as luck would have it, Ryan Adams is playing The Wilshire Theatre on Thursday. It appears that they show might be sold out, but I’m still going to try to figure out how to get some tickets.

I have also been talking to Rachel just about every night and she is having a great time. In fact, she has modified her trip a little and is now going to Greece for about five days after her program ends. This means she won’t get in to Kansas City until late on July 25th (for anyone that cares).

I’m guessing by the silence on my last post, that no one has taken the time to watch Clark and Michael. Shame on you. Just watch the webisodes, they are short and amazing.

Clark and Michael

I just came across this very funny web series with George Michael (not the singer/songwriter) from Arrested Development. You gotta check out Clark and Michael.

Can I Keep My Jersey

I finished Can I Keep My Jersey this morning. The brief one sentence synopsis would go like this: Paul Shirley, one of the top 500 living basketball players, writes about his first three years after graduation spent trying to make it into the NBA. Paul is funny in a self-deprecating kind of way and definitely would keep any basketball fan entertained. He leaves out some of the juiciest stories for fear of having to play these guys again, but still tells some that could make for an uncomfortable time next time they meet on the court. Anyways, good read and thanks Libby for the book.

I also want to thank my dad and father-in-law for suggestions of what to read next. I chose neither of the options and instead went with Chuck Klosterman’s IV. Incidentally, Chuck wrote the introduction to Can I Keep My Jersey and I guess his name was on my mind. When I picked up the book today at the bookshop it seemed like a fun read.

777

I realized while at work today that Saturday would by July 7th, 2007 or 07/07/07, aka 777. I figure it’s going to be a lucky day.

The only thing I really have planned for tomorrow is to hit up the bookstore and pick out a new book. I am a few pages from finishing Can I Keep My Jersey and am looking for something new. Any suggestions?

Pownce

I just signed up for my Pownce account and I’ve got six invites if anyone is interested. I’m not quite sure what you do with Pownce, but it looks like a pretty sweet web app. The file sending feature looks useful, but you can only send files to friends and I don’t have any friends :( Be my friend and I’ll hook you up with some great new tunes.
