Me Playing Guitar

I hurt my back playing basketball on Friday and had to spend most of the weekend relaxing. The part of it that makes me feel old is that I wasn’t really even “playing” basketball, I was just shooting hoops. I’m convinced that I hurt my back because I was trying to play in my stability control running shoes. All that jumping and landing on the hard shoe messed me up. In light of my diagnosis, I went to the only place I know of to get basketball shoes, The Eugene Nike Store, and couldn’t find anything in my size that I liked. I wanted to get the Air Force 25’s, but they only had the black patent leather pair in my size. Ten years ago I could have pulled off patent leather, but not now. I really want the low-top Air Force 25’s, but those aren’t going to be out until Fall and my back can’t wait that long. Hopefully I can get up to Portland soon to hit up the Nike Town.

I took the picture above today while trying to play the guitar. I haven’t played for quite a while, mainly because my tuner got misplaced and I can’t seem to find it. I figured out a different way to tune the guitar, but if you’ve seen my tuner, please let me know :)

The Wood Brothers

If you are a frequent visitor to my myspace page you will recognize this song by the Wood Brothers. And if, like me, you haven’t visited my page in a few months, this will be a nice treat.

Alone in NYC

Chipotle nyc

I had the night to myself tonight in New York so where did I go? Chipotle! The last time I was here I saw that they were putting in a Chipotle in the first floor of The Empire State Building and have been thinking about returning ever since. The burrito was even better than I could have hoped :)

The ‘07 Classic

I’m sorry it has taken me so long to wrap-up The ‘07 Eightfivethree Classic. My Uncle Orval was victorious in his first Classic appearance. His victory prize will be in the mail soon. Not only did he score the most points, he also made the most correct picks and finished in the 95th percentile for all Yahoo! brackets. Very impressive.

Even though I didn’t “win” this year, I still can walk away victorious. Each year, my only goal is to beat my brother-in-law, Adam. And each year I do. Adam and I are pretty competitive with each other and I think it really gets to him that I always beat him. Sometime I’ll have to tell the story about how I beat him at Ken Griffey, Jr. Baseball with a bottom of the 9th inning home run.

Easy Tiger

I know this is somewhat old news, but Ryan Adams is releasing his next album on June 26th. I haven’t heard any of the songs on it yet, but am already very excited based on his last few records. I’m hoping he stays close to his country roots and comes out with an album similar to his last three, but if it’s more like Rock N Roll, that will be fine too. I’ll keep you posted on this important subject.

While on the topic of releases, I noticed that Golden Smog is coming out with another album at the end of the month. If you’re an alt-country fan and not familiar with Golden Smog, I would suggest you check them out, especially the songs the Jeff Tweedy songs.

The 2007 Bet Site

Every year, my dad and his good friend Jerry, have a friendly bet on the baseball season. They try to pick teams that will win the most games and lose the most games each year. They pick two “winners” and two “losers” from each league and then get a point whenever their winner wins or their loser loses.

To keep yourself up to date with the score, I present The 2007 Bet site.
