Nearly no emails

Even-though I haven’t written much about it lately, Swap-bot has been chugging along very nicely for the past few months. Rachel has done a very nice job with our documentation (see the FAQ and the rating info) and tonight it really paid off. No emails from Swap-bot that required my response! In the past, before we had any documentation, I would spend at least 30-60 minutes a night working on Swap-bot emails and issues. Picture me rollin’! (anyone - except Rachel - who can tell me what that is from wins something. and google isn’t your friend here. Tupac said, but why did I write it?)

Typo to Wordpress Migration, Part II

I got a comment on a post from a few months ago this morning for a guy named Peet. Typo apparently has changed a bit since I stopped using it and Peet fixed it up and was able to get his site transferred to Wordpress.

Anyways, here’s Peet’s new version: migrate.zip.

Addicted

Firefly

I am officially hooked on Zwok! I found it on delicious this evening and have wasted my whole night playing the game. Oh well, it’s fun!

Day 1 at the house

174213695 2967e59386

Rachel and I spent the day over at our new house. We did quite a few chores, but the most fun was pulling up the carpet in the front bedroom and finding hardwood (”finding” isn’t quite true, we had a pretty good idea there was hardwood under there). We need to pull the carpet up in the back bedroom (the master bedroom, if you will) tomorrow before the guy comes over to look into refinishing the floors for us.

I am exhausted after a full day of working around the house. I think what really did me in was the time in the sun. We spent a lot of time today planning what we wanted to do and when. For some fun, we took a trip over to Home Depot and I picked up a book on do-it-yourself electrical work. We’ve got a switch that needs replacing and I really want to do it. I had to remind Rachel that I pretty much got my degree in electrical engineering before she would let me get the needed equipment. I ended up pulling the carpet before getting to the switch. Maybe tomorrow!

I am sure Rachel will write all about it, so just check her site. Also, check out her photos of the new place.

Theweeksweather

I had no idea that it gets so hot in Oregon. It is supposed to be almost 100 degrees tomorrow!

New House

Rachel and I are finally home owners. She has been writing about the new house on her blog (here, here and here). We got all the papers signed yesterday and just had to wait for the money and papers to get wired around the world today. The only thing that hasn’t gone too well so far is that we aren’t actually in the house yet. The sellers had a little trouble moving out in time, so they are currently moving out of our house. Oh well, we aren’t going to actually move in for a few weeks still. We want to get the hardwood floors refinished and we are going back to Kansas City for my sister’s wedding. I’ll keep you posted!

Update: We went back at 9:00 pm and the sellers were gone. We moved a few things in, looked around, met a neighbor and came back to our apartment.

up and running

I think all three people that read this site contacted me to tell me that my blog wasn't showing the guts of my post, just the titles. Well, you will be happy to know that I got the problem fixed (obviously).

For those that care, the problem came from a bad Markdown implementation. I got the new one and things are good.

Blog is broken - don’t ’svn up’

If you are reading this, my blog isn’t broken anymore, but I did an ’svn up’ and it broke the site.

testing markdown

I finally realized that I had to activate the markdown plugin in Wordpress in order to actually use Markdown.

I still haven’t heard about season 4 of Arrested Development, but I just saw today that season 3 is due out August 29th.
